Making conscious display choices for our living and office spaces

Whether we are conscious of it or not, surrounding ourselves with beautiful things is important for our souls. Regardless of what each of us considers as ‘beautiful’, choices that we surround ourselves with can be an important part of our daily comfort. Items for reflection, items for inspiration, or simply an item for appreciation. Surrounding ourselves with items with a bit of a story or with meaning can do all of this if chosen properly. In today’s disposable, throw away world, we should all be more conscious of the decisions we make on what we surround ourselves with. A good starting point might be to first choose pieces with meaning, along with permanence. Such as a vase or art item, a picture or for that matter, any piece for display, possibly found on a special trip or an antique piece acquired from a relative. Objects with a story or that have some relevance to the natural world around you, give longevity and create a meaningful environment adding to our life’s story. We have become conditioned to having so many furnishing or home accessory choices – most of which have mass production processes, often circling the globe to get to market, that they lack the closer to home relevance along with the needed concern for the environment at their core. Buying a hand made, smaller batch, or closer to home product, gives us all a feeling of being part of the solution, and not the problem.

Objects that can not only enhance a given space, but also create a ‘conduit of connection to the land around us are very important for our soul. Making conscious decisions without sacrificing meaningful and stunning pieces for our home or office, cottage or vacation home can do so without adding to our planet’s eco problems. Many have found that our stunning pieces with permanence do just that. Being handmade from their inception and having a very short range production life cycle – from the original piece found in the woods – to ‘North American hands’ - molding and hand pouring the replica piece in sustainable recycled Bronze or Stainless Steel, to display in one’s chosen space. They exhibit a longevity  for appreciation, along with a connection to the land for generations to come.

Being conscious of our buying decisions can be a very real and achievable act, specifically speaking about what we add to our living spaces. It should be somewhat of a responsibility to the world and our environment as a whole, to not just have an impulsive ‘click and collect’ reaction.

Our pieces are not only remarkable to view,

but holding one gives you a new level of appreciation of their permanence, along with their weight and texture.
